Promoting Eye Health in the Workplace: A Global Mission
In today’s tech-centric era, eye health takes center stage. The “Love Your Eyes” campaign champions the cause, urging employees and employers to prioritize ocular well-being, fostering long-lasting employment and unlocking individual potential.
World Sight Day 2023, under the guidance of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), embarks on a global mission. It spotlights the gravity of addressing blindness and vision issues, acknowledging their pivotal role in public health and development. This year’s focus, on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, is eye health, aiming to draw global attention and address the dire needs of 1.1 billion people lacking essential eye care.
A central aspect of this campaign is workplace vision care, advocating for proactive measures and encouraging employees to safeguard their colleagues’ eye health.
In the backdrop of this significant occasion, the Administrator, Mr. Obaidullah Siddiqui, and the Deputy Administrator, Mr. Asim Raheel, embraced the role of gracious hosts, extending a heartfelt and hospitable welcome to an assembly of esteemed guests and distinguished members of the board. Notable figures in this gathering included the erudite Director Technical, Professor Dr. Shad Mohammad, the astute Director of Finance, Mr. Khalid Sultan Khwaja, the efficient Director of Administration, Mr. Faiz Muhammad, the respected former Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Ghayur Sethi, the enterprising Director, Mr. Ahtasham Haleem, and a plethora of other illustrious attendees.
As the symposium unfolded, it was Dr. Shad Mohammad who graced the occasion as the designated keynote speaker. In a captivating address, he illuminated the essence and paramount importance of World Sight Day, shedding profound insights on the pivotal role it plays in our global tapestry. Dr. Shad Mohammad’s words resonated through the gathering, fostering a deepened understanding of the cause and a renewed commitment to the mission.
In a gesture brimming with compassion and practicality, following his enlightening discourse, Dr. Shad Mohammad took it upon himself to personally distribute walking sticks to deserving out-patient department (OPD) patients.
Amidst this global effort, the Khyber Eye Foundation has taken a significant stride forward. They organized a symbolic walk at their location in Ejazabad, Gulbahar No.4, Peshawar, which serves as a powerful reminder to individuals worldwide about the importance of prioritizing eye health in the workplace. This event not only underscores the significance of caring for our eyes during work but also provides invaluable guidance to the team.
