Khyber Eye Foundation Holds Successful Free Eye Camp in Shahdhand, Peshawar
On 28 October 2023, the Khyber Eye Foundation organized a free eye camp in Shahdhand, Peshawar, demonstrating their continued commitment to improving eye health in the region. This initiative was a significant step towards providing essential eye care services to the underprivileged sections of society.
The camp saw an impressive turnout, with a total of 220 patients availing of the eye care services. Out of these, 86 were male adults and 116 were female adults, highlighting a significant participation from both genders. The camp also catered to the younger population, with 12 male children and 6 female children receiving eye examinations.
One of the highlights of the camp was the distribution of free eyeglasses, with 120 pairs provided to those in need. This initiative will significantly enhance the quality of life for many individuals by improving their vision. Additionally, the foundation distributed 100 free medicines, ensuring that patients received the necessary treatments for various eye conditions.
A critical aspect of the camp was the identification and referral of cataract patients for further treatment. Seventy-seven individuals were referred to the Khyber Eye Foundation for cataract surgery and additional care. This proactive approach ensures that patients receive timely and appropriate interventions, preventing the progression of the condition and potential blindness.
The successful execution of this eye camp by the Khyber Eye Foundation underscores the importance of such initiatives in rural and underserved areas. By providing essential eye care services, the foundation is not only addressing immediate health needs but also contributing to the overall well-being and productivity of the community.
