Khyber Eye Foundation Organizes Free Eye Camp at Putwar Kily Mathra, Peshawar
On Saturday, September 7th, 2024 the Khyber Eye Foundation (KEF) demonstrated its ongoing commitment to promoting eye health by setting up a free eye camp at Putwar Kily Mathra, Peshawar. This initiative aimed to provide crucial eye care services to the local community, especially those who face barriers in accessing regular medical care. The camp was part of KEF’s larger mission to combat preventable blindness and vision impairments through early diagnosis, treatment, and community outreach.
The eye camp witnessed a remarkable turnout, reflecting the community’s trust in KEF’s services. A total of 215 patients were screened for a range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, and refractive errors. The team of specialized doctors and volunteers worked diligently throughout the day to examine each patient thoroughly, ensuring that everyone received appropriate care and guidance for their eye health concerns.
As part of the camp’s outreach, 170 patients were provided with free medications to treat various eye ailments such as infections, allergies, and dry eyes. In addition, 120 pairs of near glasses were distributed to those suffering from presbyopia and other vision problems, enabling them to perform daily tasks like reading and sewing with greater ease and clarity. For many, these glasses represented a vital tool for independence and improved quality of life.
The eye camp also identified 58 patients who required further evaluation for more serious conditions. These patients were referred to the Khyber Eye Foundation’s main facility for a comprehensive eye checkup and potential surgical or advanced medical interventions. This step ensures that patients with complex or progressive eye conditions receive the specialized care they need, minimizing the risk of long-term visual impairment.
By organizing this free eye camp, the Khyber Eye Foundation continues to uphold its mission of accessible eye care for all. The foundation’s efforts are not just about providing immediate medical assistance; they also focus on raising awareness about eye health, educating the community on the importance of regular eye checkups, and encouraging preventative measures to protect vision. Such initiatives reflect the foundation’s dedication to serving communities in need, demonstrating that a proactive approach can make a profound difference in people’s lives.
The success of this eye camp underscores the critical role that organizations like KEF play in improving public health outcomes. It serves as a powerful reminder of how targeted medical outreach can help bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility and contribute to the well-being of the community at large.
