Khyber Eye Foundation Holds Free Eye Camp at Peshawar Press Club, Screening 175 Patients

Peshawar, October 10, 2024 – On Thursday, the Khyber Eye Foundation conducted a highly successful free eye camp at the Peshawar Press Club, continuing its mission of providing essential eye care services to the community. The camp saw an impressive turnout, with 175 patients screened for various eye health issues, reflecting the strong need for accessible eye care in the region.

In addition to thorough eye screenings, the foundation distributed 150 free medicines to treat diagnosed conditions such as conjunctivitis, dry eyes, and other common eye problems. Patients who required corrective lenses for near-vision impairment were also taken care of, as 101 near-vision glasses were provided free of cost. These services aimed to ensure that the public, especially those who may not have access to regular eye care, could benefit from basic yet vital treatment options.

As part of the comprehensive screening process, 17 patients were identified as needing further, more detailed checkups. These individuals were referred to the Khyber Eye Foundation for advanced testing and specialized treatment to address more complex eye conditions. This follow-up care is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the in-depth medical attention they need, potentially preventing the onset of more serious vision problems.

The free eye camp was not only a response to the increasing demand for eye health services but also a part of Khyber Eye Foundation’s broader mission to combat avoidable blindness. The foundation has consistently been at the forefront of eye health awareness campaigns, regularly organizing such camps to provide free eye checkups, treatment, and advice to underserved populations across the region.

A spokesperson for the Khyber Eye Foundation commented on the event’s success: “We are committed to ensuring that people from all walks of life can access the eye care they deserve. Today’s camp at Peshawar Press Club allowed us to reach even more individuals in need of treatment. It is essential that we continue these efforts to fight preventable blindness in our communities.”

The event also served to highlight the importance of eye health awareness in the general population. The Khyber Eye Foundation has long been dedicated to raising public awareness on how regular checkups, early diagnosis, and prompt treatment can help prevent vision loss. In addition to providing direct care, the foundation plays a key role in educating the public about the importance of protecting their eyesight and seeking timely medical intervention for any eye issues.
