Khyber Eye Foundation Conducts Two-Day Free Eye Camp at Pak Turk Maarif School, Hayatabad, Peshawar

The Khyber Eye Foundation successfully conducted a two-day free eye camp at Pak Turk Maarif School, Hayatabad, Peshawar, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, as part of its ongoing commitment to providing quality eye care and early diagnosis of vision problems among children. This initiative was aimed at ensuring that students receive timely eye checkups and necessary medical attention to prevent long-term vision impairments and improve their academic performance.

Over the course of two days, a total of 360 students underwent comprehensive eye screenings conducted by a team of experienced ophthalmologists and medical professionals. Among them, 160 students required refraction tests to assess their visual acuity and detect refractive errors that could impact their learning and daily activities. The screenings also revealed a significant number of cases requiring further evaluation and specialized treatment, leading to 120 students being referred for detailed eye checkups at the Khyber Eye Foundation’s facility.

During the examinations, doctors identified a concerning number of students diagnosed with amblyopia (lazy eye), squint (strabismus), and high myopia, conditions that, if left untreated, could severely affect vision and overall eye health. Early detection of these conditions is crucial, as timely intervention can prevent permanent vision loss and help children develop better visual function. The foundation’s specialists emphasized the importance of regular eye checkups for students, highlighting how undiagnosed eye conditions can significantly impact their ability to learn and perform well in school.

The Khyber Eye Foundation continues to prioritize the eye health of children by organizing free screening camps in educational institutions, ensuring that vision problems are identified at an early stage and treated effectively. Through such initiatives, the foundation aims to spread awareness about childhood eye diseases, promote preventive eye care, and provide access to quality medical services for students from all backgrounds.

By conducting these free eye camps, the foundation remains dedicated to its mission of preventing avoidable blindness and improving the quality of life for young individuals. Moving forward, the Khyber Eye Foundation plans to expand its outreach, partnering with more schools and communities to offer free screenings, eye care education, and medical support to those in need.
