Khyber Eye Foundation Holds Free Eye Camp in Matra, Peshawar

Peshawar, Pakistan – On January 18, 2024, the Khyber Eye Foundation (KEF) reaffirmed its commitment to improving eye health in underserved communities by organizing a free eye camp in Matra, Peshawar. This initiative was a part of KEF’s ongoing efforts to provide accessible and quality eye care to those who lack access to essential medical services. The camp focused on screening, diagnosis, and the provision of immediate support to patients in need.

The response from the local community was overwhelming, with a total of 190 individuals attending the camp to receive professional eye checkups. KEF’s dedicated team of medical experts and volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure that every patient was given proper attention. As part of the foundation’s vision care initiative, 178 individuals were provided with essential medicines completely free of charge, addressing conditions that could be managed or treated effectively with timely medication.

Additionally, 112 patients were given near glasses, enabling them to overcome challenges associated with near vision, such as reading and performing daily tasks. This simple yet impactful intervention is expected to bring significant improvement in their quality of life, particularly for those whose livelihoods depend on clear vision for close-range activities.

In cases where further evaluation and treatment were necessary, the medical team referred 53 patients to the Khyber Eye Foundation’s specialized facilities for a detailed examination. This step ensures that these individuals will receive advanced care tailored to their specific eye health needs, reinforcing KEF’s commitment to long-term patient welfare.

The success of the eye camp was made possible through the collective efforts of KEF’s skilled healthcare professionals, dedicated volunteers, and the strong support of the local community. Their collaborative spirit exemplifies the foundation’s vision of creating a healthier society by eliminating avoidable blindness and promoting awareness about the importance of eye health.

This free eye camp represents another significant milestone in KEF’s journey toward transforming lives through accessible and high-quality healthcare. The foundation remains steadfast in its mission to serve as a beacon of hope for individuals and families struggling with visual impairments. By offering these services free of cost, KEF continues to address the pressing healthcare challenges faced by underserved communities, making a meaningful difference in countless lives.
