Free Eye Camp Brings Hope to Hassan Garhi: A Vision for a Brighter Future

On January 11, 2025, the Khyber Eye Foundation organized a free eye camp in Hassan Garhi, Peshawar. This initiative was part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to provide vital eye care services to communities with limited access to healthcare facilities. The camp was met with a remarkable response from the local residents, with a total of 133 patients attending to have their eyes screened for various conditions.

The primary objective of the camp was to identify and address common eye health issues while spreading awareness about the importance of maintaining good eye care practices. During the event, the foundation’s medical team worked tirelessly to ensure that each patient received a thorough examination and appropriate treatment. As part of this effort, 122 individuals were provided with free medicines, allowing them to commence their prescribed treatments immediately without any financial burden. This timely intervention is expected to significantly improve their eye health and overall well-being.

Moreover, the camp distributed near-vision glasses to 64 patients who were struggling with their daily activities due to issues like difficulty in reading or performing close-up tasks. These glasses were provided free of cost, bringing immediate relief and enhancing the quality of life for the recipients. By addressing such functional vision problems, the foundation has made it possible for these individuals to regain independence in their daily lives.

In addition to on-the-spot treatment and aid, the camp served as an initial diagnostic platform for more complex cases. Among the attendees, 28 patients were identified as requiring detailed examinations for potentially serious or advanced eye conditions. These patients were referred to the Khyber Eye Foundation’s specialized facilities, where they can receive comprehensive diagnostic services and advanced treatment. This step ensures that no individual is left without access to the care they need, regardless of the complexity of their condition.

The free eye camp at Hassan Garhi stands as a testament to the Khyber Eye Foundation’s unwavering dedication to combating preventable blindness and promoting overall eye health in underserved regions. By delivering free and accessible healthcare services, the foundation not only alleviates the immediate needs of the community but also instills hope and awareness about the importance of proactive eye care. The event underscores the foundation’s mission to make high-quality eye care a reality for all, regardless of socioeconomic status, and paves the way for healthier, brighter futures for countless individuals and families.
