Governor Haji Ghulam Ali Visits Mobile School Screening Camp

Peshawar: The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Haji Ghulam Ali, visited the Mobile School Screening Project at the Government Shaheed Ahmad Ilahi Technical Higher Secondary School in Gulbahar, Peshawar, on May 29, 2023. The event was organized by the Khyber Eye Foundation, with Chairman Muhammad Ghayur Sethi and all board members extending a warm invitation to the Governor for the inauguration of this important initiative.

During the opening ceremony, Governor Haji Ghulam Ali cut the ribbon, officially marking the beginning of the project. He was then given a tour of the entire school to observe the operations of the mobile screening initiative in action. Chairman of the Khyber Eye Foundation, Muhammad Ghayur Sethi, took the opportunity to share his thoughts on the project, explaining that the primary goal of the Mobile School Screening Project is to provide free eye check-ups and eyeglasses to students in government schools throughout Peshawar and its surrounding areas.

Chairman Sethi emphasized the need for this initiative, highlighting that many children studying in government schools are unable to afford proper eye care due to financial constraints. “Some of these children are not even aware of the state of their vision, whether it is good or needs attention,” he remarked. Additionally, he mentioned that teachers in these schools would also receive training on basic eye-checking techniques to ensure that, in the absence of the Khyber Eye Foundation team, they could continue to monitor the students’ vision and guide them on whether they need glasses.

At the event, the Director of Finance of the Khyber Eye Foundation, Khalid Sultan Khawaja, also shared his views, expressing his hopes for the project’s success, much like other initiatives undertaken by the Foundation. Education professionals present at the event added their perspectives, appreciating the impact of the project on students’ learning abilities and overall well-being.

Governor Haji Ghulam Ali expressed his gratitude to Chairman Muhammad Ghayur Sethi and the board members of the Khyber Eye Foundation for inviting him to inaugurate this noble cause. He acknowledged the long-standing relationship he has with the Foundation and praised the hard work and dedication of all its members. “The Khyber Eye Foundation has established a distinguished name through its commitment and integrity, and I am confident that the School Screening Project will also flourish under their guidance,” the Governor remarked.

He assured the gathering of his full support, stating, “At any stage, whether it is the Khyber Eye Foundation or the Mobile School Screening Project, if my assistance is needed, you will find me standing by your side.”

The visit underscored the significance of the Mobile School Screening Project and its potential impact on the eye health of thousands of schoolchildren across the region. With the support of the Khyber Eye Foundation and its dedicated team, the initiative is set to create a lasting impact on the community, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to see a brighter future.
