Khyber Eye Foundation Conducts Eye Awareness Session and Free Eye Camp at Future World, a Project of Roots Millennium
Peshawar, October 3, 2024 – The Khyber Eye Foundation marked another significant milestone in its mission to promote eye health and prevent avoidable blindness by organizing a comprehensive Eye Awareness Session and Free Eye Camp at Roots Millennium School on October 3, 2024. The initiative aimed at raising awareness among school students about the importance of eye care and ensuring early detection of any vision-related problems through free screenings.
The event featured a full-scale eye camp, where students from different grades received free eye checkups. The screenings covered a wide range of potential eye conditions, including refractive errors, which, if not detected early, could hinder students’ academic performance and overall development. The team of professional ophthalmologists from Khyber Eye Foundation conducted detailed eye examinations and provided personalized recommendations for students, ensuring they had access to the best eye care advice and treatment options.
The eye camp was supplemented by an engaging and educational Eye Awareness Session led by Dr. Nasir Shah, one of the foundation’s leading eye specialists. During the session, Dr. Shah offered invaluable insights into eye health, discussing preventive measures that students can adopt in their daily lives to protect their vision. He emphasized the importance of regular eye checkups, maintaining a balanced diet rich in eye-friendly nutrients like vitamin A and omega-3 fatty acids, and managing screen time, which has become a growing concern with the increasing use of digital devices. He also explained simple eye exercises to combat eye strain, especially for students who spend long hours in front of screens for their studies.
In addition to these practical tips, Dr. Shah educated the students on how to recognize the early warning signs of common eye diseases such as conjunctivitis, dry eye syndrome, and myopia. By raising awareness about these conditions, the Khyber Eye Foundation aims to empower students to seek timely medical attention if they notice any changes in their vision. The students were highly engaged during the session, asking numerous questions about eye health and showing a deep interest in learning how to take better care of their eyesight. The interactive nature of the session fostered an environment where students could freely discuss their concerns and learn from Dr. Shah’s expertise.
In a special addition to the event, the foundation invited renowned motivational speaker Mr. Muhammad Zubair Baig, who delivered an inspiring lecture on how to lead a successful and fulfilling life. Mr. Baig, who was invited by the Khyber Eye Foundation for this specific event, shared his insights on achieving personal and academic success by maintaining a balanced lifestyle, setting clear goals, and staying committed to one’s dreams. His talk emphasized the importance of hard work, perseverance, and self-belief as key factors for success. He also linked the importance of good health, particularly eye health, with the ability to perform well both in school and in life. The students were captivated by Mr. Baig’s motivational talk, and his practical advice on achieving excellence in life resonated strongly with them.
The collaboration between Khyber Eye Foundation and Roots Millennium School was a reflection of the foundation’s broader strategy of reaching out to younger audiences to instill lifelong habits of eye care. The foundation’s goal is not only to treat existing eye conditions but to proactively educate the public, especially the younger generation, about the importance of preventive care.
A spokesperson for the Khyber Eye Foundation commented, “We believe that educating young minds about eye health is just as important as providing treatments. Awareness is the first step in prevention, and by hosting these sessions and camps in schools, we aim to make a lasting impact on the future generation’s eye health. The students’ enthusiasm and curiosity during today’s session showed us just how valuable this initiative is.”
The event concluded on a positive note, with students and staff expressing their gratitude for the Khyber Eye Foundation’s efforts. The foundation plans to continue its outreach programs, focusing on schools and communities to raise awareness about eye care and make free eye care services available to those in need.
