Khyber Eye Foundation Brings Vision to Peshawar: A Successful Free Eye Camp
On August 26, 2023, the Khyber Eye Foundation made a significant impact on the community of Peshawar by conducting a free eye camp at the Dalazak Road Dispensary. This initiative provided essential eye care services to many residents, reflecting the foundation’s commitment to improving eye health in the region.
The eye camp recorded a total of 196 outpatient department (OPD) visits, indicating a strong turnout from the community. Of these, 43 were male adults, and 129 were female adults, showcasing a higher participation rate among female adults. Additionally, the camp served eight male children and sixteen female children, emphasizing its inclusivity across different age groups.
In an effort to address the vision needs of the community, the foundation distributed 109 free eyeglasses, offering immediate assistance to those with visual impairments. Moreover, 111 free medicines were provided to attendees, ensuring comprehensive care beyond the initial consultation.
A noteworthy outcome of the camp was the identification of 50 cataract patients, who were subsequently referred to the Khyber Eye Foundation for further treatment. This proactive approach ensures that these patients receive the necessary surgical interventions, helping to restore their vision and improve their quality of life.
The success of this free eye camp highlights the Khyber Eye Foundation’s dedication to providing accessible eye care services and underscores the importance of community-driven health initiatives. By addressing the immediate needs of Peshawar’s residents, the foundation continues to foster a healthier and more visually empowered community.
