Khyber Eye Foundation Hosts Successful Free Eye Camp at Dalazak PMS Dispensary, Peshawar
Peshawar, October 19, 2024 – In a significant community health initiative, the Khyber Eye Foundation (KEF) organized a free eye camp at the Dalazak PMS Dispensary in Peshawar, offering critical eye care services to residents of the area. This camp was part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to make eye health services accessible to underserved communities and to combat preventable blindness.
During the camp, a total of 206 patients underwent thorough eye screenings for various vision problems. As part of the foundation’s commitment to providing comprehensive care, 162 patients received free medication to treat diagnosed conditions. Additionally, 99 pairs of near-sight glasses were distributed at no cost, ensuring that patients with refractive errors could improve their vision immediately.
KEF also identified 60 patients who required further evaluation and treatment for more complex eye conditions. These patients were referred to the Khyber Eye Foundation’s main facility for detailed examinations and specialized care. By referring these cases, KEF ensures that individuals with more serious or complex conditions receive the necessary follow-up care, improving the overall quality of their eye health.
The camp was staffed by skilled doctors and healthcare professionals who volunteered their time and expertise. Their dedication, combined with the support of local volunteers, made the event a success. The camp also served as an awareness campaign, educating the public on the importance of early detection and treatment of eye issues to prevent long-term damage.
A spokesperson for the Khyber Eye Foundation stated, “Our mission is to provide quality eye care to everyone, regardless of their financial background. This camp is one of many steps we’re taking towards reducing the incidence of preventable blindness in the region.” The foundation plans to continue hosting similar camps in rural and urban areas to reach even more people in need of eye care services.
The Khyber Eye Foundation has a long-standing commitment to serving the community, and its efforts in organizing free eye camps have been instrumental in improving eye health in the region. With the help of donors, volunteers, and medical professionals, KEF continues to expand its services, ensuring that no one is left without access to essential eye care.
