On Saturday, November 2, 2024, the Khyber Eye Foundation organized a free eye camp in the rural community of Amadkhel Village, located along Kohat Road, Peshawar. This initiative was part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to making eye care accessible to underserved communities in the region.

The camp saw an impressive turnout, with a total of 175 patients receiving thorough eye screenings by qualified medical staff. Many of these patients traveled from neighboring areas, seizing the rare opportunity to access professional eye care close to home. In addition to screenings, a range of essential services were provided to ensure community members received the support they needed for healthy vision.

Of those screened, 160 patients received free medications tailored to their specific conditions, addressing common issues such as eye infections, allergies, and dry eyes. For many, these medications were a valuable resource, offering relief from conditions that had impacted their daily lives.

Additionally, the foundation provided 107 individuals with free near-vision glasses. These glasses are essential for those who struggle with presbyopia, a common age-related condition that affects near vision. By offering these glasses at no cost, the camp enabled many to regain their ability to perform daily tasks such as reading, cooking, and sewing, which rely on clear near-vision.

During the screening process, 41 patients were identified as needing more comprehensive evaluation and specialized treatment. These individuals were referred to the Khyber Eye Foundation’s main facility for a detailed eye checkup. The foundation will continue to support these patients, ensuring they receive appropriate diagnosis and treatment for more complex eye conditions.

This free eye camp in Amadkhel Village exemplifies the Khyber Eye Foundation’s dedication to promoting eye health and improving quality of life for the residents of remote and underserved areas.
